There have been 46 homicides in Bibb County this year. Here is a list of the victims
Last year, Macon-Bibb County set a modern-day record for homicides with 54 killings.
In 2022, there have been 46 homicides. Not every homicide is considered a murder, including vehicular homicides, involuntary manslaughter and killings deemed justified as self-defense.
It should be noted that most, if not all, of these cases have not been adjudicated, and many are still under investigation, so details, charges, suspects and more information could change in the coming weeks and months.
1. Carlos Antonio Gordon, 45
Gordon and John Paul Sewell, 30, got into an altercation at the Loaves & Fishes Ministry at 651 Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard on Jan. 4. Gordon was found in the alley with a gunshot wound to the chest. Sewell, a Loaves and Fishes worker, was charged with felony murder and aggravated assault.
2. Troy Eric Sandifer, 52
On Jan. 10 just after 4 a.m., Sandifer was fatally shot in the 3100 block of Columbus Road. No one has been arrested in connection with his killing.
3. Christopher Sean Abram, 37
Kentarious Vaquez Bush, 28, and Justin Jarrod Johnson, 26, were arrested on murder charges on Jan. 27 after Abram was found shot and killed Jan. 13 outside a vacant duplex in Macon’s Unionville neighborhood. Bibb County coroner Leon Jones said Abram was shot multiple time. The shooting occurred at about 3 a.m. in the 2800 block of Elpis Street just south of Columbus Road.
4. Carmelo Ross, 15
Officials said Ross and another 15-year-old boy were shot in a possible drive-by shooting near Henderson Stadium on Jan. 19. Ross was transported to a local hospital, where he later died. The other teen was shot in the hand. No arrests have been made.
5. Kena Jermaine Marshall, 47
On Jan. 22 at 332 Pansy Ave., Marshall was shot at a gathering just after 5 p.m. Thirty-nine year old Adam Lee Lamar, of Macon, was arrested on Jan. 27 and charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was charged with murder four days later.
6. Deuntay Lashavi Hicks, 21
Hicks was found in the doorway of an apartment in The Woods complex at 4017 Napier Ave. Coroner Leon Jones said Hicks had been shot multiple times. At this time no one has been arrested in connection with Hicks’ death.
7. Tammy Calhoun, 44
Tammy Calhoun was found shot to death in a motel room at the OYO Hotel at Eisenhower and Romeiser Road in west Macon on Feb. 9. Michael Reid, 46, of California, was also found dead in the room. Officials believe Reid shot Calhoun before shooting himself in a murder-suicide.
8. Major Williams, 6 months
Williams died in early February from a brain bleed that appears to have been caused by abusive head trauma. On Feb. 22, the 29-year-old mother of Williams, Amanda Allan Hulsey, was arrested along with her boyfriend, 22-year-old Tyrek Dionte Dixon, and charged with murder.
9-10. Trey Marcellous Smith, 30 and Debarius Devonte Sanford, 27
On Feb. 13, Smith and Sanford were found shot dead in a car at the Quick Serve Mart at 584 Emery Highway in east Macon. “The suspect,” the sheriff’s statement said, “is described as a medium-build male wearing dark color clothes with a mask and hood over his face. He was last seen running down Womack Street.” No arrests have been made.
11. Cynthia L. Berry, 49
Cindy Berry was found dead in her home in the Barrington Hall subdivision at 309 Winchester Place on Feb. 21. Joey Fournier, 50, was arrested and accused of strangling her to death. Fournier was Berry’s ex-boyfriend and court records show that she had obtained a temporary protective order against him. The pair lived together for eight years until August of 2021.
12. Mandrell Curry, 24
Curry died on March 7 from injuries sustained in a shooting. Sheriff’s officials said in a statement the day of the shooting that Curry was found with gunshot wounds to his “upper body” at about 4:30 p.m. in the front yard of a house at 2902 Leone Drive North. The incident occurred on Feb. 21.
13. Eddie Antonio Thomas, 42
Thomas was shot on Feb. 5 in the 400 block of Bob White Road and died from his injuries on March 11 in a Middle Georgia hospital. A warrant has been issued for Terrance Marquis Williams, 26 of Macon, in connection with Thomas’ death.
14. Quenton Varnard Woodson, 28
On March 22, Woodson was found shot to death inside an apartment in east Macon at 847 Maynard Circle. No arrests have been made. The apartment complex where Woodson died lies just across Emory Highway along Maynard Street, across the highway from historic Fort Hawkins.
15. Glenn Eugene Stevens, 34
The 34-year-old man was found with gunshot wounds in the parking lot of the Park at Northside apartments on Northside Drive near the front entrance just before 11 p.m. on March 23. Stevens was from New York but recently lived in Marietta before moving to Macon just a couple of weeks before his death. Stevens was taken to a local hospital and later pronounced dead.
16. Elijah “Eli” Jameel Rasheed, 28
Rasheed was shot in the Family Dollar parking lot at 3600 Napier Avenue on March 31 and later died. Investigators arrested Brian Marquel Greene, 25, on April 4 and charged him with murder and two counts of aggravated assault.
Greene had an outstanding warrant for simple battery in another case. He also has a probation violation on a felony charge and a hold from the Atrium Health Navicent Police Department. He was being held in the Bibb County jail without bond on April 5.
17. Tadarius Cornelius Williams, 26
Williams was driving his Ford Focus south on New Clinton Road at Millerfield Road when he lost control and the vehicle rolled over on its side on April 9.
Williams was transported to a local hospital where authorities discovered he’d been shot. He died from his wounds on April 11.
21-year-old De Shondre Octavious Liggins was questioned and initially charged with aggravated assault. A murder charge was added when Williams died.
18. Jessica Shontae Reeves, 25
Reeves was found with a gunshot wound in a car parked outside Building F at the West Club Apartments at 159 Steven Drive at just after 6 p.m. on April 25. She was pronounced dead an hour later at a local hospital. The shooting is still under investigation.
19. Tavias La’zhae Williams, 15
Williams was shot outside the Academy Sports & Outdoors at 1689 Eisenhower Parkway and then found just less than a mile to the south down Canterbury Road in a parking lot at Southwest High School around 10:30 p.m. on April 26. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital. Tajiri Antwaun Harris, 20, was arrested in connection with Williams death and charged with murder and three counts of aggravated assault.
20. Kymelo Early, 16
Early was fatally shot in front of a south Macon food mart the evening of May 9. Ja’Kobe Alonzo Archie, 21, of Macon, was jailed on an involuntary manslaughter charge and was being held without bond Tuesday morning at the county lockup in connection with the shooting.
21. Damian Devonta Felton Sr., 27
Felton was found outside his residence on Harold Street with a gunshot wound just after 9 a.m. on May 14. The investigation into the 27-year-old’s death is ongoing.
22. Ormondo Cortez Clark, 28
Clark was shot and killed at the intersection of Ibex and Chappell streets, on May 16 just before 10 p.m. No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting of the 28-year-old.
23. Keonta Quintez Rouse Jr.
Rouse was shot and killed just after 1 p.m. on May 19 outside Building 30 at River Park Apartment Homes at 720 Tidewater Circle. Brian Christopher Horton Jr., 27 of Macon, was arrested on May 27 and charged with murder.
24. Gabrilla Harris
Harris was killed on May 21 just after midnight at the Windy Hill Manor Apartments located at 4151 Log Cabin Drive. Investigators charged 28-year-old Corey Deshawn Jackson, of Macon, with murder in connection with Harris’ death on May 25.
25. Walter Caryse Robinson, 28
Robinson was pronounced dead early the morning of May 24 at a local hospital after he was was found mortally wounded near the intersection of Moseley and Grayson avenues, a block south of Mercer University Drive and about a quarter-mile east of Henderson Stadium.
26. Carlos Delmara Shelley, 48
Carlos Delmara Shelley, 48, was found unconscious in the Bibb County jail at about 9 p.m. on June 2. He was later pronounced dead. A GBI medical examiner determined he’d been strangled. Joseph Anthony Moore, 50 of Macon, was charged with murdering Shelley.
27. Cleveland Raines, 19
Sheriff’s deputies found Raines fatally shot behind an abandoned house in East Macon the evening of June 4. Three other men were injured in the shooting and drove to a local hospital. There have been no arrests in the case.
28.-29. Roderick A. Felton, 19 and Braxton Cole, 19
Felton and Cole were inside the Friends Food Mart at the corner of Heard Avenue near Pendleton Homes the evening of June 6 when they were fatally shot. Another victim injured in the shootings, Deroderick Collins, 23, was being treated at a local hospital.
30. Hakeem Flowers, 16
Flowers was fatally shot at a late-night “gathering” at a vacant lot in a neighborhood just east of Pio Nono Avenue. Two other people were injured, including 29-year-old Kendra Hubbard, who was charged in connection with Flowers’ murder.
31. Daffaney Parker, 41
Parker was found fatally shot in the 300 block of Leaf Court in East Macon early the morning of June 26. No one has been arrested in the killing. Investigators are searching for 43-year-old Rickanian Williams, wanted in connection with the shooting.
32. Antonio Harris, 41
Harris was fatally shot near the corner of Bluebell Street and Poppy Avenue the evening of June 26. No one has been arrested in connection with the shooting. An 18-year-old woman was also injured in the shooting and was recovering at a local hospital.
33. Freddie Crowell
Crowell was shot outside of a car wash at 500 Pio Nono Avenue on June 15 and eventually died on the afternoon of July 13 at Atrium Health Navicent. Crowell was listed in stable condition prior to his death. On Aug. 4, the sheriff’s office arrested a 15 and 16 year old in connection with the shooting. They’re both being held at the Macon Regional Youth Detention Center on murder charges.
34. Mariah Loren Stanfield, 24
Stanfield’s body was found early the morning of July 15 along Knoxville Road in rural southwest Bibb County. She had been shot multiple times. An investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made.
35. Tyreek Young, 17
Young was shot in the head around 9:30 p.m. on July 15 on Carlisle Avenue, eventually dying from the wound on July 17 at Atrium Health Navicent. Another victim, an unidentified 18-year-old male, was shot in the leg during the incident. There are no suspects in the case and an investigation is ongoing.
36-37. Roctavia Edwards, 26 and Jayden Ellington, 17
Two people were fatally wounded at the Waverly Pointe apartment complex the evening of July 26. Bibb County Sheriff’s officials identified the victims as 26-year-old Roctavia Edwards and 17-year-old Jayden Ellington.
38. Jarvis Devon Hill, 23
Hill was injured in a June 5 shooting that claimed the life of Cleveland Rains, 19. Almost two months later, on July 28, he was taken to a local hospital, where he died from complications connected to the shooting. Hill and Rains were shot behind an abandoned house on Jones Avenue. No one has been arrested in connection with the killings.
39. Jimmy Lee Scott III, 38
Early the morning of July 28, Scott and his brother Jarel were injured in a shooting at a barber shop on Pio Nono Avenue. The deadly episode was said to have taken place outside a barber shop named Next Level Kuts at 856 Pio Nono Ave. in the Cherokee Center shopping plaza at the intersection of Hillcrest Avenue, just west of Central High School.
40. Ronnie Joe Albea, 41
On Aug. 6, two men approached a woman in the parking lot of the Harrison Road Walmart Supercenter, just south of Eisenhower Parkway, around 8:20 p.m. They demanded the keys to her car.
Her fiancé, 41-year-old Ronnie Albea, refused, and there was a struggle, according to reports, and Albea was shot. He was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead.
41. Deondra Fitchett, 45
On Aug. 14, Fitchett was shot and killed in the 1300 block of Woodliff Street in Bibb County. Tashanie Marie Negron, 27, was arrested and charged with murder in connection with the shooting.
42. Ashton Fort, 18
Ashton Fort, 18, was shot several times on Aug. 17 near the 5000 block of Nisbet Drive, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office. He was taken to a local hospital and later died from his wounds. No one has been arrested in connection with the shooting.
43. Jamaya B. Warner, 18
Warner was driving near the intersection of Dellwood Drive and Dellwood Court Aug. 19 when someone opened fire on her car. She and a 21-year-old passenger drove to a Circle K gas station, where deputies responded and Warner was pronounced dead. No suspects have been announced.
Other Killings
1. Steven Lewis Finfrock, 63
Finfrock was parked in his late-model Chevrolet Camaro along Interstate 75 in north Macon on Feb. 23. He later stepped out of the car and aimed a gun at the police, who shot and killed him, the GBI said in a statement. Finfrock was a disabled veteran from Titusville, Florida. He had been traveling with his dog, Chloe, possibly a Yorkie mix, which was found dead from a gunshot wound inside the car.
2. Tyler Wade McElhenney, 25
McElhenney reportedly attacked a woman mowing her lawn on Trophy Place in Lizella on May 5. The woman’s husband fatally shot him.
3. Dontarrius Durell Holloway, 32
Hollaway was reportedly suffering a mental episode Friday, June 24 when he pointed a gun at his sister, who was also armed and fatally shot him. No charges have been filed against his sister.
