Macon man dies nearly a month after being shot at car wash

A man shot June 15 died Wednesday morning after succumbing to his wounds at Atrium Health Navicent, officials said.

Freddie Crowell, 59, was shot at a car wash at 500 Pio Nono Ave. He crawled over to the fire station across the street and was transported to the hospital, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

He was later listed in stable condition, but died around 10 a.m. Wednesday morning.

The sheriff’s office went on to request help this month in the investigation of what was considered an aggravated assault.

Crowell’s relatives have been notified of his death and an autopsy will be conducted.

On Aug. 4, the sheriff’s office arrested a 15 and 16 year old in connection with the shooting. They’re both being held at the Macon Regional Youth Detention Center on murder charges.
