Macon man, 24, dies weeks after he was shot outside house in Village Green neighborhood

A 24-year-old Macon man who was shot and critically wounded on Feb. 21 in southwest Macon’s Village Green neighborhood died Monday morning in a Macon hospital.

Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones said the victim, Mandrell Curry, had been on life support in the hospital since the shooting. Curry was pronounced dead shortly after 5 a.m., Jones said.

Sheriff’s officials said in a statement the day of the shooting that the victim was found with gunshot wounds to his “upper body” at about 4:30 p.m. in the front yard of a house at 2902 Leone Drive North.

Circumstances of the shooting were not immediately known.

Curry’s death is the county’s 12th homicide of 2022.
