Coronavirus live updates: What to know about COVID-19 in Middle Georgia on March 20
As COVID-19 continues to impact local schools, business and governments, the Telegraph is working to keep our readers informed about decisions that will impact them. Here is what you need to know about how the new coronavirus is affecting Middle Georgia:
Peach County limits or discontinues public access
Peach County has limited or discontinued public access to government buildings and facilities after its first positive COVID-19 case.
That’s planned through March 31, but could be extended, the Peach County Board of Commissioners posted on its Facebook page.
County employees are expected to report to work as usual and may be reached by phone or other electronic means.
Middle Georgia Community Food bank is available
For those that are unable to obtain food due to complications of the coronavirus pandemic, the Middle Georgia Community Food Bank has provided two phone numbers to call for assistance:

School district closures
Gov. Brian Kemp ordered all public schools and universities to close from March 18-31. For an updated list of how local schools are transitioning to online learning and more details, click here.
Downtown eating
Many downtown restaurants are offering curbside pickup for customers and have reserved parking meters for people picking their food up.
Houston County Public Library System
All branch locations in Warner Robins, Centerville and Perry will close at 6 p.m. Friday until further notice due to coronavirus concerns.
All library-owned Chromebooks have been checked out.
“Please use our Wi-Fi and other online resources,” the library system posted on its Facebook page.
Laurens County School District meal delivery
Starting Monday, the Laurens County School District we will only deliver meals by to various east and west locations on Mondays and Wednesdays. Also, after Friday, schools will no longer have meals available on site for pickup, the school district posted on Facebook.
First area COVID-19 cases
Four cases were announced yesterday: One in Macon-Bibb, one in Peach and two in Laurens County. They followed the announcement Wednesday of Middle Georgia’s first case of the new coronavirus in Houston County.
