Two hospitalized in Dublin with coronavirus as first Laurens County cases confirmed

Two people in Laurens County have been hospitalized with the new coronavirus, according to the South Central Health District.

The two Laurens County residents are currently being treated for COVID-19 in the Fairview Park Hospital in Dublin. At this time it is unknown how these cases were contracted and official are currently working to identify those who may have come in contact with them.

“Our team has been working for several weeks to prepare for a potential outbreak of COVID-19 in our district,” Health Director with South Central Health District Thomas Craft said. “We are confident that our efforts to prepare have enabled us to handle these cases appropriately.”

The South Central Health District said it will continue to update the public with the most up to date information to keep people safe from COVID-19.
