Suspect surrenders after 3 killed in east Macon shooting, deputies say

A woman who allegedly killed three people in Macon turned herself into law enforcement Monday, the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office said.

After deputies announced they were searching for Rekeymia Shatayla Henley, a 21-year-old Macon woman, she “turned herself over to investigators for her involvement in the incident,” the sheriff’s office said in a news release.

She was charged with three counts of murder, one count of aggravated assault and one count of tampering with evidence, deputies said.

Henley was taken to the Bibb County Jail and held without bond.

Rekeymia Shatayla Henley, 21, was wanted in connection to a Macon triple homicide, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office. Officials say she has turned herself in.

Markell Bonner Jr., 16, Brandon Devonta Thomas, 21, and Quantayrias De’Monte Townsend, 27, were shot and killed on Oct. 19, on Williams Street East.

Since the shooting happened, guns and shell casings were found at the scene, and locals were brainstorming solutions to reduce gun violence in east Macon.

Investigators urged anyone with details related to the shooting to call the sheriff’s office at 478-751-7500, or Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
