Rifle, handgun found at scene of shooting that left teen, brothers dead in Macon
A rifle, handgun and shell casings were left at the scene of a shooting that killed three people in east Macon Saturday night, according to the Bibb County Coroner’s Office.
A 16-year-old and two brothers were killed in the shooting, according to Coroner Leon Jones.
A suspect was not yet identified by Monday morning, Jones said. The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office declined to comment further on the evidence.
“We don’t know who pulled the trigger, nothing,” Jones said.
Markell Bonner Jr., 16; Brandon Devonta Thomas, 21; and Quantayrias De’Monte Townsend, 27, were shot and killed before 11 p.m., according to Jones.
Thomas and Townsend were brothers, Jones said.
Bonner and Thomas were found dead on the road within the 500 block of Williams Street East, which is in a neighborhood off Gray Highway and Shurling Drive, according to Jones. Townsend died in a hospital.
Over 30 shell casing were scattered within a 30-foot-stretch on the pavement, photos from Jones showed. Law enforcement marked where they each landed with yellow cones.
The most recent violent death that happened in this neighborhood was about a block away, when a woman’s ex-boyfriend allegedly killed her and put her into a trash can on Sept. 11, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
