More teens arrested in shooting of Macon child, ‘retaliation.’ 8 now face charges
Two more teenagers were arrested in connection to a shooting that left a 12-year-old boy injured and led to a “retaliation” shooting in Macon, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
Eight people have now been arrested in relation to the shootings, deputies say.
The first shooting happened at a home and left a 12-year-old boy injured. A second shooting happened “in retaliation” after the first shooting, over an hour later, about a mile away, deputies said.
The sheriff’s office’s SWAT team, Gang Unit and investigators most recently arrested two 14-year-old boys Friday. Georgia State Patrol and the Bibb County Campus Police Department assisted with the investigation.
The 14-year-olds were arrested at Murphey Homes, an affordable housing community by Macon Housing Authority at 900 A St. They were taken to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Headquarters for further investigation, then transported to the Macon Regional Youth Detention Center.
They were each charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, in relation to the 12-year-old’s injuries, a news release from the sheriff’s office said.
The shootings have led to the arrests of a 12-year-old, 13-year-old, three 14-year-olds, two 15-year-olds and a 17-year-old.
