Man charged with murder in shooting at Macon house party

A 22-year-old man has been charged with murder in a shooting at a Macon house party.

Ryshek Jamar Jackson of Macon, who was already in jail on unrelated charges, was served Wednesday night with an arrest warrant for murder, according to a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office news release.

Jarvis Antwon Knight, 28, died the afternoon of Aug. 1 after he was shot the night before at a residence in the 4300 block of Mikado Avenue.

Witnesses told deputies that an unknown person, later identified as Jackson, started shooting during a party at the residence about 11:45 a.m. July 31, the release said. Knight was struck in the head.

Jackson was picked up on Aug. 7 on a parole violation and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, according to Bibb County jail records.

The homicide count for Macon-Bibb has climbed to 37 for 2020, Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones said.

Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to contact the Bibb Sheriff’s Office at 478-751 -7500, or Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
