Wounded man shows up at a Macon-Bibb fire station, cops say

A man who’d been shot walked up to a Macon-Bibb fire station late Monday night.

Demeatrus Darnell Jackson, 29, of Atlanta, was dropped off at the fire station at 2285 Second St. by a friend, according to a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office news release.

Jackson, who’d been wounded in the side, said that he was shot at Macon Avenue residence but he wasn’t sure of the address, the release said.

Deputies were dispatched at 10:13 p.m. to the fire station. The friend had left before deputies arrived, the release said.

Jackson was taken to the Medical Center, Navicent Health, where he was listed in critical but stable condition, according to the sheriff’s office.

“Investigators are attempting to locate the exact residence where the incident took place and are also looking into the events surrounding the shooting,” the release said.

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500, or Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
