Man pistol-whipped at the scene of Lizella homicide

Bibb County sheriff’s investigators were back on Briar Creek Trail in Lizella early Tuesday, nearly a week after a 16-year-old was killed there.

Deputies were called to 156 Briar Creek Trail, where 19-year-old Logan Nettles allegedly pistol-whipped his father, sheriff’s deputies said.

The father refused treatment, and the younger Nettles is on the run.

Last week, Chase Gillis was shot to death when he came to Nettles’ home to swap a pistol early Wednesday.

When Gillis allegedly cocked the gun and pointed it at Nettles’ head, his friend David Billingsley, 23, fatally shot Gillis.

No charges have been filed in that incident.

Anyone with information about Logan Nettles is asked to call Bibb deputies at 478-751-7500 or Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 877-68-CRIME.
