Georgia quarterback Jake Fromm goes down with injury in SEC Championship vs LSU

Georgia’s injury luck in the SEC Championship claimed another body, this time at one of the more crucial positions on the Bulldogs’ offense.

Midway through the second quarter, a LSU blitzer came free and sacked Bulldogs quarterback Jake Fromm in the backfield on second down. The two players tangled on the way to the ground, and Fromm fell awkwardly, twisting what looked like his knee as he fell to the ground.

Fromm tried to walk the injury off, but eventually sat on the ground and trainers came out to tend to him. He walked off the field, but backup quarterback Stetson Bennet took over for him. Bennett nearly threw an interception on his first pass, and the Bulldogs were forced to punt.

Fromm is the second Bulldog to leave the game injured, after freshman receiver Dominick Blaylock left the game with a knee injury in the first quarter. The Bulldogs were already down their No. 1 and No. 2 receivers: Lawrence Cager is out for the season, and George Pickens cannot play until the third quarter due to fighting in the Georgia Tech game.

Prior to the injury, from had eight completions for 82 yards.

Fromm returned the ensuing offensive series, with the Bulldogs trailing 17-3.
