Dear reader: The Telegraph needs your help
Dear reader,
Over the past two months, covering the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on Middle Georgia has been the mission of the Macon Telegraph. We’ve focused on providing you information you need to make decisions to keep you and your family healthy and safe. We want to make sure you have the best understanding of available data, how to get tested, how to support your neighbors in need and what local and state regulations affect you.
The Telegraph has given you a first-hand look at what it’s like to battle COVID-19, highlighted local efforts to produce masks and other important equipment, examined if Middle Georgia hospitals are ready for COVID-19 surges, provided a perspective on the impact of the coronavirus on downtown Macon, told you exactly what you can and can’t do under local and state shelter-in-place orders and analyzed the information Georgia leaders are using to reopen the state.
We’re only able to provide this information through the support of our subscribers and advertisers. The newspaper industry has been struggling for years, and the dramatic economic impact of the coronavirus has made what was already an uphill battle more difficult.
We’ve kept our reporters on the streets (at least virtually), avoiding furloughs and layoffs. And we’re committed to continuing that fight. But we need your support to keep providing vital news to Middle Georgians. Here’s how you can help:

I’ve wanted to run a newspaper since I was 13 years old. Even as a young teenager, I was awed by the newspaper’s ability to tell important stories and to help me understand the world around me. After a decade in journalism, I’m still in awe of what I get to do every day, and I believe it’s more important than ever at precisely the moment when the industry is facing its most difficult challenges.
My reporters are working incredibly hard every day to provide you with correct, carefully vetted information placed in the proper context so we can all get through this. Help us keep doing that.
Thank you for reading the Telegraph, for supporting us with your subscriptions, your donations and your kind words.
