A 25-year-old who was hit and killed by a vehicle in Macon on May 22 has been identified, marking at least the second pedestrian fatality in less than a week.
On Tuesday, Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones confirmed the victim as Macon native Kemontre Braswell, who was pronounced dead after a 58-year-old driving a blue Lexus struck him.
Braswell reportedly crossed the roadway wearing dark clothing according to a May 23 news release from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
The Macon Bibb E-911 Center received the call just after 11 p.m. on May 22. Deputies arrived on the scene in the 500 block of Hawkinsville Road near the intersection of Kumho Parkway, the release said.
Paramedics responded to the scene to treat the pedestrian, but Braswell was unresponsive and had succumbed to his injuries, according to law enforcement.
Authorities said Tuesday the investigation into the collision remains ongoing, and no charges have been filed at this time.
