Two men face additional charges in a shooting death at a Macon gas station on New Year’s Day, according to court records .

Malik Demon Harris, 28, and Desmond Dwayne Hill, 25, would face life sentences if convicted of the charges filed Tuesday.

They two men were charged in the shooting death of 27-year-old Ahmad Shahid Roberts on Jan. 1, New Year’s Day. He was shot near a Shell gas station on South Heron Street.

They each face one count of malice murder, one count of felony murder, one count of aggravated assault and one count of firearm possession during the commission of a felony, according to the indictment.

Harris faces an additional count of felony murder and one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

If convicted, according to Georgia law, they would face:

  • Life sentences for the murder charges
  • 20-year maximum sentence for aggravated assault
  • Five years to run concurrently with other sentences for the firearm possession during the commission of a felony
  • One to 10 years for possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.

What happened?

Roberts was found lying on the sidewalk with gunshot wounds in front of the Shell gas station on Jan. 1, according to previous news releases from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office . He was taken to a local hospital where he later died.

Harris and Hill were arrested at Riverbend Apartments later that day and both charged with murder.

Hill received a gunshot wound during the incident and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Both are incarcerated at the Bibb County Jail, according to detainee logs from the sheriff’s office. Hill has a $27,500 bond, and Harris is being held without bond.

Harris is involved in another death

Harris also was wanted in connection with the death of Travon Maurice Harden, 26, Bibb County deputies said. Harden was found with a gunshot wound in the parking lot of the Economy Hotel on Pio Nono Avenue on Dec. 23, 2025.

He died as a result of his injuries at a local hospital, a news release from the sheriff’s office said. A purple gun and a bullet magazine were found at the scene, according to an Instagram post by the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies charged Harris with murder. However, he has not been indicted in the case.
