A man is dead after a shooting at a Macon gas station Thursday, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s office.

The shooting was reported just after 3 p.m. Thursday at the Shell on South Heron Street, the sheriff’s office said in a news release. Officers who responded found a man shot and lying on the sidewalk unresponsive. The victim, who was identified as 27-year-old Ahmad Shahid Roberts, was taken to a hospital but was later pronounced dead.

The coroner’s office identified Roberts and notified family of his death, according to the sheriff’s office.

The sheriff’s office said investigators were still working to determine what led to the shooting.
