Two men have been arrested and charged in the death of a man shot at a Macon gas station Thursday, and one of them now faces two murder cases, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

The most recent shooting, which happened at a Shell at 100 South Heron Street, left 27-year-old Ahmad Shahid Roberts dead. BCSO announced Thursday night the arrest of a first suspect, 28-year-old Malik Harris.

Harris was found and arrested at Riverbend Apartments in the 3600 block of Mercer University Drive, and was charged with murder, deputies said. The sheriff’s office said they originally were seeking Harris for a separate, unrelated homicide case, and that he faces murder charges in both incidents.

Early Friday morning, the sheriff’s office clarified that Harris had been wanted in connection to the death of 26-year-old Travon Maurice Harden, who was shot at the Economy Hotel on Pio Nono Avenue on Dec. 23.

Harris was also being charged with battery involving family violence, according to a log of detainees at the Bibb County Jail. It was not immediately clear if this was related to the shootings.

The sheriff’s office didn’t immediately respond to The Telegraph’s request for further information.

The sheriff’s office also announced Friday morning that it had detained a second suspect in the death of Roberts. Desmond Dewayne Hill, 25, was found at the same apartment complex as Harris. Hill had a gunshot wound that he suffered during the incident at the Shell gas station, and was taken to a hospital by ambulance.

After being treated, Hill was taken to the Bibb County Jail and charged with murder, the sheriff’s office said.
