A suspect accused of fatally shooting a man after an argument — one of many shooting incidents over the weekend — was arrested and charged with murder Friday, the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office said.

Shavis Adams, 35, was shot around 7 p.m. Saturday on the 1500 block of Florence Avenue, in a neighborhood off Mercer University Drive, deputies said in a news release.

“To be clear, guns should never be used to settle petty arguments,” Sheriff David Davis said. “But when they are, we will be coming for you.”

Jeremi Devontrey Hill, 31 of Macon, was wanted in connection to the homicide , according to the sheriff’s office.

He was taken into custody around 9 a.m. Friday at a home in Americus, the sheriff’s office said. He was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force, Georgia Bureau of Investigation and Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

Hill was charged with murder and held without bond at the Bibb County Jail, according to deputies.

“This investigation is still active, pending additional charges,” deputies said.

They urged anyone with related tips to call the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500, or Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
