A 21-year-old was arrested Tuesday, months after he allegedly struck and killed a pedestrian in Macon, according Bibb County Jail records.

Ronni Nykole Abbott, 23, was found dead on Aug. 28, 2025, in a wooded embankment beside Rocky Creek Road, near Robinhood Road. She was reported missing a day prior, Dep. Alexis Mitchell-White said.

She died from “blunt force trauma to the head,” Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones said at the time.

By November, the driver who allegedly hit Abott was identified as Carmelo Aamir Johnson, according to Macon Regional Crimestoppers.

Johnson was wanted by the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force, which arrested him around 12 p.m. Tuesday, the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

Johnson was charged with first-degree vehicular homicide, hit-and-run resulting in death, and probation violation for a fingerprintable charge, according to a log of detainees.

He was booked in the Bibb County Jail on Tuesday, and did not have bond, the detainee records showed.

Johnson was on probation after being found guilty of two counts of felony theft by taking after he stole an SUV and keys that belonged to Stratford Academy in 2023, Macon Judicial Court records showed.
