Suspects in fatal Macon bar shooting, held in separate jails, face a judge
Two of the men arrested in connection with a deadly shooting at Midtown Daiquiri Bar and Grill last month had their first appearance in court Monday.
Jarrius Terrell Curry appeared in front of Magistrate Judge Valencia Davis-Jones after being arrested Friday in connection with the shooting at the Macon bar on May 18, which left three dead and six wounded. A 17-year-old charged with three counts of murder also had his first appearance in front of Davis-Jones Monday.
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office said on Sunday that Curry was facing five counts of aggravated assault.
The hearing occurred over video call, where Curry and the teenager attended while in different counties. Curry is being held at the Monroe County Jail and the teenager is being held in Upson County Jail. Sgt. Christopher Williams said that they are purposely being separated, but didn’t provide further details.
Davis-Jones explained to both Curry and the teenager that she couldn’t grant them bond and their cases would be sent to Bibb County Superior Court. Both of them requested commitment hearings. In those hearings, Curry and the 17-year-old would testify on whether they’d pose a significant risk of harming themselves or others, which would be scheduled for a later date.
They were also ordered by Davis-Jones not to speak with each other, any other suspects, the witnesses, or the victim’s families.
Another suspect faces charges too.
The sheriff’s office previously announced that they obtained arrest warrants for Muchman Bond III, who was detained in Columbia, South Carolina, on a drug charge. Bond will face three murder charges.
