US Marshals arrest 2 in armed robbery of Macon post office on Black Friday

Arrests have been made in the armed robbery of a U.S. Postal Service office in Macon on Black Friday.

Roy Ford Jr., 19, and Alvin Dunn, 36, both of Macon, were taken into custody without incident at a local gas station at noon Thursday by U.S. Marshal Service’s Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force, according to a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office news release.

Ford was charged with armed robbery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and a previous charge of theft by taking. Dunn was charged with armed robbery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

The men were wearing dark, hooded sweatshirts with bandanna’s covering their faces when they allegedly robbed the post office at 1040 Pio Nono Ave. at 1:15 p.m. Nov. 29.

One of them held a handgun while demanding money from a clerk, the release said. No one was hurt.

They ran behind the post office toward Patterson Street after they got an undisclosed amount of cash, the release said.

Both were being held Friday without bond at the Bibb County jail.

The arrests stem from a joint probe by investigators from the Bibb and Twiggs’ sheriff’s offices, Warner Robins police, U.S. marshals and U.S. postal inspectors, the release said.

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500, or Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
