Florida man arrested in Monroe County after woman he kidnapped escapes, police say
A Florida man who’s accused of carjacking a southern Alabama woman has been arrested in Monroe County after his victim escaped in an adjacent county, authorities said.
Monroe County sheriff’s deputies received a lookout that the suspect, identified as Tony Levestear Scott Jr. of Pensacola, was driving a stolen Hyundai Sonata early Wednesday, according to a Monroe County Sheriff’s Office news release.
The car was spotted by sheriff’s deputies near Bill Harris Road after a short manhunt.
The woman Scott is accused of carjacking in Mobile, Alabama, was able to escape him in Crawford County, which led to the manhunt.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is probing the incident.
