Masked bandits strike overnight at Shell gas station and Dollar General

Bibb County sheriff’s deputies are investigating two overnight robberies about 10 miles apart.

Just after 2 a.m., a man with a black bandana over his face pulled a gun on the clerk at the Shell convenience store at 6440 Houston Road.

The robber, who was described as a black male about 5 feet 7 inches tall, took some cash from the store’s register and ran away.

He was wearing black pants, a gray hooded sweatshirt, white shoes and a blue ball cap.

About four hours earlier, a man with a black T-shirt over his face robbed the Dollar General late Thursday night in west Macon.

Just before 10:15 p.m., the gunman pointed his weapon at the clerk and demanded money from the store at 5544 Thomaston Road, according to a news release from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

The gunman grabbed the cash drawer and ran away.

He is described as a black male, about 5 feet 7 inches tall, who was wearing a black hoodie, grayish pants and blue and white tennis shoes.

Early Thursday, two gunmen robbed the Waffle House at 5146 Mercer University Drive, which becomes Thomaston Road, and is less than a mile away from the Dollar General that was robbed early Friday.

No word yet on whether investigators think the crimes are related.
