QuikTrip sets projected opening date for second Warner Robins location. What to know

A targeted opening date has been set for the second Warner Robins location of this popular Oklahoma-based chain of convenience stores and gas stations.

The new 5,700-square-foot QuikTrip Travel Center at 2701 Watson Blvd. is located where the former Logan Roadhouse once stood.

“Construction is moving along,” said Aisha Jefferson-Smith, QuikTrip’s corporate communications manager. “We are projecting for the store to open May ’22.”

The new QT travel center will include 16 pumps for cars and eight diesel bays for trucks, according to Jefferson-Smith.

The store will be equipped with QT kitchens that offer fresh to order food as well as drink items, she said. Also for sale will be fresh, grab and go sandwiches, salads and wraps. Donuts and pastries also will be offered.

The 2.18 acre site is located at the corner of Watson Boulevard and Carl Vinson Parkway, a busy intersection in the heart of retail stores and restaurants.

A Circle K gas station is located across Carl Vinson Parkway from the site.

Expanding into Middle Georgia

In March 2021, QuikTrip opened its first travel center in Middle Georgia at 4934 Sardis Church Road off Interstate 75 in south Bibb County.

On Dec. 19, the first QuikTrip location in Warner Robins opened at 12000 Watson Blvd. near its intersection with Peavy Road near I-75.

The opening ignited a gas war when QuikTrip dropped its price per gallon down to $1.35. Buc-ee’s, one exit south of the new QT, also dropped its gas prices for a short term in a friendly rivalry that delighted holiday travelers and other motorists.

Today, a half-dozen or more QuikTrip stores with a smaller footprint than the the first travel center in Macon are under construction or in the planning stages in the region — including three-to-five new stores planned for Macon.

Here’s an update:

  • A QuikTrip between Emery Highway and North Ave. in Macon is expected to be built and open in the spring of 2023 behind the Krispy Kreme, Jefferson-Smith said.
  • A QuikTrip at 5129 Mercer University Drive near the northbound ramp of I-475 in west Macon is is projected to open in the winter of 2023, Jefferson-Smith said.
  • A QuikTrip location off Riverside Drive planned at the site of a former Bank of America and the former Natalia’s restaurant location is also projected to open in the winter of 2023, Jefferson-Smith said.

Two other potential QT locations in Bibb County remain under consideration.
