GA facing near record hot weather on Christmas Day. Here’s how hot & the weekend forecast
If you’re wishing for a white Christmas in Georgia this year, well, you might want to hold onto that wish for next year. And while you’re at it, get ready to break out your short sleeves because this Christmas could be unusually warm.
Here’s what to know:
How warm will it be on Christmas Day 2025 in GA?
According to AccuWeather experts, “parts of the US may experience the warmest Christmas on record, feeling like May.” But why?
“As storms wreak havoc in California and cause trouble in the Northeast, a large bubble of warm air will build over the south-central part of the United States this week with room to expand. The result has the potential to be one of the warmest Christmases on record, including the day before and after for some locations,” said Alex Sosnowski, AccuWeather senior meteorologist.
Temperatures in Georgia could be between 15 and 30 degrees above average, making it possible to shatter previous records for highs on Christmas Day.
The previous record was set in 2015 with temperatures reaching 75 degrees in Atlanta and the year after (2016) was the second-warmest on record at 74 degrees.
What do other experts say?
“After a mild Monday, the rest of the week will bring unseasonably warm temperatures. This Christmas will likely be among the top five warmest on record,” according to the National Weather Service website.
In fact, the NWS 10-day outlook includes “warmer than usual temperatures” through the end of the month as well as dry weather.
In Macon and Columbus, the highs are expected to be around 75 degrees on Christmas Eve and around 75 or 76 degrees on Christmas Day.
What will Christmas weekend look like?
Macon: On Saturday the 27th, AccuWeather experts are predicting highs around 77 with some clouds moving in and on Sunday, there could be some rain showers with highs around 76.
Columbus: Highs around 77 on Saturday with plenty of sun. On Sunday, the high will be around 73 with some rain showers.
