If you’re itching to travel this fall, Travel + Leisure just released their list of the 18 best places to travel to during October.

The list is full of fun cities where fall foliage is bright and even a few surprising spots abroad such as Los Cabos in Mexico and London in the UK. However, if you live in Georgia, one of the best places to go in October is actually not that far. Here’s what to know:

Why Macon GA is great

Travel + Leisure said Macon, GA is one of the top places to travel to in October 2025, but why?

Well, according to the travel blog: “ Macon is known for its music heritage, nightlife, the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame, and lots of outdoor activities.”

Specifically, during the month of October, Travel + Leisure highlighted Macon’s Hay House tours and the “haunted” Grand Opera House.

“A Halloween highlight is the Witch Float, when more than 100 witches float (or paddle) down the Ocmulgee River,” the blog also stated.

If you plan to visit, the historic 1842 Inn in Macon is also an alleged “haunted” bed and breakfast, where you can stay and tell the spooky tales of the night before.
