A spa in Turks and Caicos, a winery in Albania and a villa in Thailand. These places were named among the “World’s Greatest Places of 2025” by Time Magazine.

Of course, many U.S. locations made the list, such as the Intuit Dome in California, the Longwood Gardens in Pennsylvania and Powder Mountain in Utah. However, two spots in Georgia also made the list.

That’s right, the Georgia Safari Conservation Park in Madison, Georgia and the Ocmulgee Mounds in Macon are among the “World’s Greatest Places.” Here’s what to know:

This Safari brings Africa to Georgia, where zebras, giraffes, rhinos and more roam over 530 acres of land.

“Opened last June, Georgia Safari Conservation Park is the first overnight safari park in the Peach State (and one of the only in the U.S.) where visitors can stay in one- and two-bedroom luxury tents and a giraffe suite, while also helping protect wildlife,” said Time Magazine writer Sucheta Rawal.

The safari offers guided group and private tours as well as field trip opportunities for school-aged children.

Ocmulgee Mounds National Historical Park in Macon, Georgia

This park is part of a prehistoric American Indian site, dating back over 17,000 years where the original Mississippian people arrived after the Ice Age.

The entrance to the Earth Lodge sits along the paved path at Ocmulgee Mounds National Historical Park on Thursday, Feb. 27, 2025, in Macon, Georgia. After a failed effort in 2024, Georgia legislatures reintroduced a bipartisan bill to make the Ocmulgee Mounds Georgia’s first national park on Wednesday.

“The mounds they built, which are currently a national historic site that includes a distinctive spiral mound, a restored Earth Lodge where tribal meetings occurred, and a labyrinth of walking trails, are set to become America’s 64th National Park and Georgia’s first,” said Time Magazine writer Adam H. Graham.

This park is recognized as part of Macon’s rich history, but Time Magazine also highlighted Macon, Georgia’s musical history, noting famous musicians such as Otis Redding and the Allman Brothers.
