Macon mom reunited with toddler who was abducted by dad charged with triple murder

Jamila French and her 2-year-old son King were reunited in Florida after his abduction and were headed home to Macon on Thursday.

The toddler was kidnapped by his father, who’s facing murder charges in the shooting deaths of French’s mother, stepfather and sister Tuesday night.

Ceasar Crockett Jr., 29, was taken into custody late Wednesday after a six-hour standoff with the Florida Highway Patrol and other law enforcement officers.

During the standoff, law enforcement officers were able to talk the father into surrendering the child, according to a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office post on Facebook.

Bibb sheriff’s investigators drove French to Hillsborough County, Florida, to be reunited with her son. The sheriff’s office posted a photo of that reunion on its Facebook page.

“This is the look on a mother’s face when she is reunited with her child!” the post read.

At 9:22 p.m. Tuesday, an argument between French and Crockett escalated with Crockett pulling out a firearm and shooting French’s mother, 67-year-old Janet Samuel; stepfather, a 69-year-old James Samuel; and sister 47-year-old Kotwang Childs, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office. Crocket then fled with their son from the Mooreland Avenue home they shared.

Mother and child are expected to return to Macon with Bibb sheriff’s investigators.
