Macon homeowner charged with operating chop shop, having stolen vehicles, deputies say

A 40-year-old Macon homeowner is accused of operating a chop shop at his Birch Street residence after two stolen vehicles were found on site this past weekend.

Charles Altonia Walker is free on a $34,410 bond after his arrest early Saturday, Bibb County sheriff’s officials say. He’s also charged with theft by receiving stolen property, possession of a firearm during the commission of felony and possession of Ectasy pills.

Sheriff’s deputies were looking for somebody else at the residence in the 1000 block of Birch Street when they found a stolen Dodge Challenger and a Chevy Silverado. They didn’t find that person.

But they did find parts for many different vehicles. Deputies also found a 12-gauge shotgun and 88 Ectasy pills at the residence.

Anyone with information about the alleged chop shop is urged to contact the Bibb Sheriff’s Office at 478-751 -7500 and leave a message for the on-call investigator, or call Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
