Victim identified in fatal motorcycle crash in north Macon

A motorcyclist was killed after a two-vehicle crash early Tuesday on Riverside Drive in North Macon.

The victim was identified as 57-year-old William Money of Macon, said Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones.

“Another tragedy for Macon-Bibb County,” said Jones, noting that there have been three homicides, three suicides, one fire fatality and now the crash death within two weeks.

Money was on his way to work at Georgia Power in Monroe County when the crash happened at 6:29 a.m. at the Interstate 75 south on-ramp near Butler Toyota, Jones said.

Money was thrown about 20 feet upon impact, Jones said. Money was pronounced dead on the scene at 7:15 a.m., Jones said.

The on-ramp to I-75 south was reopened shortly before 9 a.m.

A Honda Civic traveling south on Riverside Drive was making a left turn to get onto I-75 south when it collided with a Harley Davidson motorcycle that was traveling north on Riverside Drive, according to Bibb County sheriff’s officials.

The 56-year-old driver of the car sustained minor injuries.
