Asian stir-fry restaurant in north Macon is the last of four restaurants to close

After more than eight years of business, Genghis Grill in north Macon closed its doors Monday.

The restaurant, located at 5347 Bowman Road, announced on Facebook that they decided to close the Macon location due to a variety of factors.

“We feel like we have become a part of the community and we’ll miss y’all! Thank you for grilling with us!” read the post.

Genghis Grill is a national chain based in Dallas serves Asian stir-fry food. The Macon location was the first to feature an island bar in the center of the restaurant.

The local franchise, Makhanga, which is owned by William Conner, Eric Hefner and Chad Oliver, opened the restaurant in 2015. Makhanga owned another location in Augusta, which closed in July after 10 years of business, according to WRDW/WAGT.

The closure is one of several recent restaurant closures in Macon, including Chik’nCone, Decadent Dessert Bar and Dua Fish Tank.
