Another Macon restaurant casualty. This popular downtown dessert shop abruptly closes

Decadent Dessert Bar in downtown Macon is no more.

The coffee and dessert shop at 530 Poplar St. suddenly closed.

“We have enjoyed serving the people of Macon and surrounding areas for the past five years,” a closure notice taped to store window reads. “We tried to find someone to carry this venture on moving forward but were unsuccessful by the end of our lease term.

“Thank you for the memories and smiles.”

Franchise owner Patrick Polowichak declined comment through his wife, Leah. He opened the Macon shop in 2018 as well as a Warner Robins location at 1056 Ga. 96, Suite 200.

The Macon shop is the latest casualty among restaurant closings in Macon.

Other closures

Open less than a year, franchise owners Wes and Fabi Kostovetsky closed Chik’nCone, new restaurant concept for Middle Georgia, in late June.

The restaurant, which offered crispy fried chicken bites with a choice of sauces served in a waffle cone, was at 860 Forsyth St., Suite 102, across from Atrium Health Navicent.

The couple announced the closure on Facebook.

“As a family owned business, we hoped to become a permanent staple within the community,” the post reads. “However, not all business ventures are meant to be permanent.

“We will always remember the memories given to us by you, our amazing customers, and the wonderful staff we had the privilege of working with. Thank you all for the love and support. We are forever grateful.”

Also in June, another downtown area restaurant, Dua Fish Tank, closed without explanation to customers.

The Atlanta-based, dual-branded Dua Vietnamese Noodle Soup & The Fish Tank Poke Co., or Dua Fish Tank for short, opened in the fall of 2021 below the Lofts at Navicent at 781 Spring St., Suite 105

Amanda Truong, who owns the restaurant with her husband, Grayson, declined immediate comment Thursday morning.
