Popular coffee shop to reopen in downtown Macon. A new cookie spot is coming to Mercer
A beloved coffee shop is reopening in downtown Macon, while a new bakery known for their warm cookies delivered is coming to Mercer Landing.
Fans of the coffee shop can expect even better brews than before as the owners will be roasting their own coffee.
The new bakery not only will serve up all sorts of delicious cookies but also a variety of other baked treats and ice cream.
Here’s a quick look:
Insomnia Cookies
Known for serving up freshly-baked warm cookies and for late-night deliveries, this chain of bakeries is opening a store at 1530 University Drive, Suite 700, next to Osaka Hibachi & Sushi.
Insomnia Cookies offers deluxe cookies, ice cream, cookie’wiches, which are their ice cream sandwiches, big’wiches, which are their buttercream frosting sandwiches, brownies, cookie cakes and more.
Most of their bakeries deliver these treats at least until midnight, with some stores remaining open until 3 a.m. They also ship their ready-to-eat treats.
The sign on the front of the new Macon store says “coming in 2023.” A spokeswoman for Insomnia Cookies narrowed that to say “coming this fall.”
The store is hiring shift leaders, a cookie crew and delivery drivers. Text COOKIES to 89743 to apply.
Taste & See Coffee Shop & Gallery
This locally-owned coffee shop in downtown Macon for more than nine years is reopening in the fall after nearly-a-year hiatus. They closed in early November due in part to staff shortages.
The coffee shop that doubles as an art gallery is known for their brewed coffee, specialty baked goods and sandwiches.
And when they reopen at 546 Poplar St. in October, they’ll be roasting their own coffee in the back of the shop, according to their Facebook announcement.
They’re hiring. Email them at kwr@pstel.net to apply.
