Lizella woman charged with vehicular homicide in wreck that killed Macon motorcyclist

Seven months after a wreck on Emery Highway in east Macon left a motorcyclist dead, a Lizella woman was arrested this week and charged with first-degree vehicular homicide and DUI, law enforcement officials said.

The suspect, Erika Jade Mixter, 21, was booked into the Bibb County jail Thursday on charges in connection with the March 11 death of 68-year-old Frank Blake, said officials with the U.S. Marshals Service who arrested Mixter at an office on Coliseum Drive.

Mixter was being held without bond Friday. She was later denied bond at a first-appearance hearing before a magistrate judge, who noted that Mixter was also charged with speeding and that the DUI charge she faces is drug-related.

The wreck happened near Emery Highway’s intersection with Womack Street, just west of historic Fort Hawkins.

Bibb sheriff’s officials said at the time that Blake’s motorcycle “collided with a vehicle.”
