The man was asked to stop. He didn’t and was shot, authorities say
A man was shot outside a Macon home Friday night after he ignored instructions to stop approaching the house, authorities said Saturday.
The homeowner at 1633 Woodrow Place reported hearing a loud crash outside his bedroom window sometime before 8:30 p.m. When he went to investigate, he found a man coming from behind the home dressed in all black. He asked the man to stop. When he didn’t, the homeowner shot the man several times, according to a news release from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene. His name will be released pending notification of next of kin.
Prior to the shooting, authorities say the man had a fight with his girlfriend at the Beauty Queen 98 Cents Store at 3217 Mercer University Drive. Store security separated the two, and the man fled. Security chased him but lost him on Woodrow Place, the release states.
No charges have been made at this time. Anyone with information is asked to call the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500 or Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 877-68-CRIME.
