Independence Day Celebration proceeding as planned despite rainy forecast
The threat of rain is not stopping Warner Robins from celebrating the nation’s independence.
If there are no heavy winds or lightning, the Independence Day Celebration will go on as planned Friday night at McConnell-Talbert Stadium.
Delays will be put in place only if a thunderstorm is in the area, otherwise gates will open at 6 p.m. with Montgomery Gentry performing in concert with special guest Mary Kate Farmer before the annual fireworks display.
Warner Robins police will allow small umbrellas into the stadium.
If the schedule changes, updates will be given through the police department’s Facebook page and Twitter account, as well as on the department’s blog and mobile phone app, which can be downloaded for free.
Demon Valley Drive will be closed to traffic and open only to pedestrians until after the event clears.
