Movie stars return to Macon as ‘Best of Enemies’ resumes filming
If you missed seeing movie stars in downtown Macon earlier this month, you have another chance.
“Best of Enemies” is scheduled to resume filming on Saturday at the Macon-Bibb County Government Center.
The film about civil rights activist Ann Atwater’s face-off with the Ku Klux Klan over desegregation stars Taraji P. Henson and Sam Rockwell, who were both in town earlier this month.
The crew will begin setting up Friday and will break down Wednesday, which means the foyer and commission chambers will be closed to the public those days.
Anyone doing business at the former City Hall can enter through the front doors or the First Street entrance.
Everyone is asked to be mindful of the production crew working around the building.
Due to the Independence Day holiday, the building will be closed Saturday through Tuesday.
During Saturday’s filming, intermittent closures are expected on Poplar Street, D.T. Walton Way and First Street between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Bibb County sheriff’s deputies will secure the area and direct drivers to detours.
“Best of Enemies” joins a number of other movies filmed in Macon in the last several years, including: “Rampage,” “Need for Speed,” “The 5th Wave,” “Trouble with the Curve,” “Fate of the Furious” and “42,” the Jackie Robinson story.
