Gregg Allman’s funeral procession to pass near band’s old venues in downtown Macon

The Saturday funeral procession for Gregg Allman, the Allman Brothers Band co-founder who died over the weekend, will pass near some of the music halls where he performed.

The procession will leave Snow’s Memorial Chapel on Cherry Street sometime after the private 1 p.m. funeral.

A motorcade carrying Allman’s remains will proceed north toward the Ocmulgee River on First Street after passing the City Auditorium. It will cross Mulberry Street, passing the Grand Opera House to the east, and then cross Walnut Street at the old Hilton hotel.

At Riverside Drive, the procession will turn west, crossing Spring Street, continuing on up the way into Rose Hill Cemetery for a private burial.

Fans hoping to pay their respects to Allman, who died Saturday at 69, are encouraged to line the route.
