Gregg Allman postpones January tour dates at Macon’s Grand Opera House
Fans hoping to see Allman Brothers Band member Gregg Allman next year will have to wait a little longer.
Allman’s recently announced tour dates of Jan. 17, 18, 20 and 21 will be postponed until early June, according to a release from Mercer University.
Tickets will still go on sale Friday, as scheduled, for the new dates of June 2, 3, 5 and 6 at 8 p.m. the Grand Opera House on Mulberry Street in Macon.
A Wednesday Rolling Stone online article said Allman postponed his remaining tour dates this year and in early 2017 “citing a vocal injury requiring rest. ... The singer-songwriter plans to devote several months to his recovery before returning to the stage in 2017.”
“ ’It’s time for me to take some real time off to heal,’ ” the rock legend said in the article.
Health issues in August caused Allman to cancel October concert dates.
In May, Allman was awarded an honorary doctorate in humanities last summer from the university.
