A new craft beer growler to open in Macon
A craft beer growler is about a month away from opening in Macon.
Growler USA is moving into Suite 300 at 1530 Mercer University Drive, which is between Papa John’s Pizza and Momma Goldberg’s at Mercer Landing, said franchise owner Danny Patel.
“Most of the construction is midway done,” Patel said. “Hopefully, by the end of April I think I will be ready to open.”
The 2,000-square-foot restaurant will have a few seat outdoors, he said.
“It will have 100 taps of mostly hand-crafted, microbrew,” but it also will serve hard cider, green tea and other non-alcoholic drinks, he said. The restaurant will be open seven days a week and will serve lunch and dinner. The menu will include such items as wings, burgers and salads. There are certain items the franchise always has on the menu and some other items Patel will change from month to month.
Although known for its craft beer, the restaurant will be family-friendly, and it will have a child’s menu, Patel said.
He expects to hire about 30-35 workers and job seekers may apply after Tuesday at the website, www.growlerusa.com or in person after Wednesday. Applicants may also send resumes to Patel at danny.amita@growlerusa.com.
This will be the fourth restaurant announced so far to go in Mercer Landing. On Thursday, The Telegraph reported Amici would build a free-standing restaurant in the development across from Mercer University’s Five Star Stadium.
“We liked this location because we have enough food places on Bass Road (in north Bibb County),” he said, laughing. “We want something different here. ... I plan to have our local in-town and in-state craft beer. I want people to say ‘this is something made in Georgia.’ ... It would be a great location for people to stop in because it’s not too far from their home or their work.”
Another Growler USA opened in December in Warner Robins, and its franchise is owned by four Robins Air Force Base firefighters.
Growler USA is headquartered in Centennial, Colorado, and has locations throughout the country.
