10 prep football players we want to see in Bibb, Houston Senior All-Star Bowl

High school football postseason is now in full swing. But with the announcement of the new Senior All-Star Bowl game between Bibb County and Houston County, high school football is far from over.

The game is scheduled to take place at 1 p.m. on Dec. 21 at the Ed Defore Sports Complex in Macon. It will be the start of a new tradition with next year’s game already set to take place in Houston County.

Tickets for the game will be available at the gate on game day for $10. Proceeds will go toward scholarships for athletics and fine arts for Bibb County students.

Senior players from both school districts are eligible, but the rosters haven’t been announced yet.

Here are 10 players we would like to see in the All-Star game.

Bibb County

Victor Dixon Jr., Westside QB: He has been one of the best quarterbacks in Middle Georgia. He is in an offense that likes to air it out and in an all-star game like this, could provide some big highlight plays. He led the Seminoles to the playoffs this season with 27 touchdowns and over 2,300 yards passing.

Deondre Duehart, Northeast RB/LB: Duehart turned out to be one of the biggest transfers in Middle Georgia after playing for Warner Robins last season. He has been one of the best running backs in the area as he rushed for over 1,000 yards this season. Northeast barely missed the playoffs on a tiebreaker, but it would be good to give Duehart one more opportunity to showcase his skills in this game.

Jaden Williams, Southwest WR: Williams is about as athletic as they come in Middle Georgia. He started the season with a kickoff return for a touchdown against Westside and hasn’t slowed down. Whenever the Patriots have needed a big play, the ball went to Williams. In a game like this, he has the ability to make highlight plays all over the field. Williams could be an x-factor for the Bibb County team.

Jaylon Barden, Westside WR: Barden will head to Pittsburgh next year but before he leaves Middle Georgia, he could provide a great target in this game. If Dixon Jr. is chosen as quarterback for the Bibb County team, it would give these two an advantage as they have some great chemistry. He finished out his career at Westside with over 1,200 yards receiving in his final season and caught 15 touchdowns.

Elizabeth Rodenroth, Howard K: She is one of the most automatic kickers and was a key for the Howard Huskies in her two seasons with the team. She nailed over 31 extra points and five field goals this season. She is a multi-sport talent as she plans to sign with Kennesaw State to play soccer. This could be a nice send off for her time on the gridiron.

Houston County

Max Rigby, Houston County QB: Rigby has turned a corner this season after struggling as a starter in his sophomore and junior seasons. Rigby’s growth as a quarterback is a big reason the Bears have found their way into the second round of the playoffs after upsetting number one Evans last week. He notched over 2,000 yards passing and 14 touchdowns this season.

Marcayll Jones, Warner Robins WR: Last season, Jones broke out and set the state record for most receiving yards in a season. He hasn’t had as many yards this season as the Demons have put more of a focus on the run game with Dylan Fromm gone. That hasn’t stopped Jones from making an impact though. An all-star game would be a fun way to see this Memphis commit go out in style.

Julian Barnes, Veterans RB: Barnes and backfield mate Lebron Fields have been an exciting one-two punch this season. Fields is a junior so he won’t be eligible for this game until next season but this could be Barnes’ time to shine. He has over 700 yards rushing and has found the end zone multiple times.

Nathan Trevino, Northside DL: Trevino is an absolute force on the defense side of the football. He has over 30 tackles on the season and multiple sacks from the middle of that Eagles defensive line. Trevino helped lead this team to a state title appearance in his junior season. He would be a great addition to the Houston County roster to help slow down what could be a dynamic offense on the other side.

Wesley Steiner, Houston County LB: The Auburn commit has been the heart and soul of this Bears defense. He led the team during the regular season with 69 tackles plus he was able to drop the quarterback four times for sacks. He is one of the most talented players to ever put on a uniform for one of the Middle Georgia teams so it would be fitting for him to end his career in the first ever all-star game.
