Georgia went into last season’s Sugar Bowl against the Texas Longhorns with a chip on their shoulder after falling to Alabama in the SEC Championship and receiving a No. 5 ranking in the CFP. The Bulldogs lost 28-21.
Baylor will be making its first Sugar Bowl appearance since 1957, when the Bears upset No. 2-ranked Tennessee, 13-7. The Bears also have not faced Georgia since 1989, according to the university. The game will also be Baylor’s third trip to a BCS/New Year’s Six Bowl Game (2013 Fiesta Bowl, 2014 Cotton Bowl) and its first under head coach Matt Rhule.
At 11-2, Baylor could set a school record for single-season wins with a win over the Bulldogs.
Kickoff is set for 8:45 p.m. EST. The game will be televised on ESPN.
