These 3 Georgia restaurants rank among the ‘most outstanding’ in the world. Here’s why
Georgia is home to three of the “most outstanding” restaurants in the world, new rankings show.
Restaurants in Atlanta and near the coast ranked among the best food destinations on a list from Forbes Travel Guide. Here are those top-ranking Georgia restaurants, which were winners of 2024 Star Awards:
- Atlas in Atlanta
Bacchanalia in Atlanta
Colt & Alison on St. Simons Island
To create its list of top-notch restaurants, Forbes Travel Guide sent reviewers to restaurants, hotels, spas and cruise ships across the globe. Each place received scores in more than 900 visitor-related criteria, a spokesperson told McClatchy News in an email.
“Our anonymous professional inspectors evaluate based on hundreds of exacting standards, with an emphasis on exceptional service, to help discerning travelers select the world’s best experiences,” Forbes Travel Guide wrote in a Feb. 7 news release.
In the restaurant category, none of the Georgia winners won a “coveted” five-star rating, given to places that boast “an outstanding experience” and “highly customized level of service.”
Instead, the state’s restaurants were listed as four-star winners, defined as “exceptional properties, offering high levels of service and quality of facility to match.”
In Atlanta, Forbes Travel Guide said Atlas’ “ambience and addictive dishes make it feel as if it’s the center of the culinary world.” The website gave a nod to the American restaurant’s simple takes on dishes that let the ingredients shine.
Also in Atlanta, Bacchanalia was recognized for serving plates “presented with little fuss but lots of flavor.” The dining spot is known for offering American cuisine based on what’s in season.
And along the coast, Colt & Alison’s “burgundy and mahogany-paneled walls offer a warm, intimate spot to enjoy a tender cut of filet mignon, New York strip or bison strip loin.” But if you want a true steakhouse experience, don’t miss the side dishes, Forbes Travel Guide said.
In addition to being home to top-ranking restaurants, Georgia boasts nine hotels and two spas that earned spots in the global rankings, results show.
Worldwide, Forbes Travel Guide said over 2,000 travel destinations made it onto its list. Of those, 258 were restaurants.
