Middle Georgia voters supported a wide array of candidates during Tuesday's primaries. Here is a sampling of voters and why they cast ballots for their candidate.

Gus Johnson, 86, Macon, Donald Trump

"I like his strength, his stamina and he's smart. And he's anti-establishment and anti-media."

Tamika Sanders, 46, Macon, Bernie Sanders

"I voted for Bernie because my children, honestly, are so emphatically behind him. I know he's not doing really well in the polls. ... I did it really in honor of them. They're really impressed with his past stance working with civil rights, and with them both in the next couple of years getting ready to go to college, they're really hoping, they're inspired by his plan to get free college tuition. ... They're really passionate about Bernie Sanders, and this is really a symbolic gesture for them."

Carsie Hall, 58, Macon, Hillary Clinton

"I just chose her because, well, to me, she's one of the best and leading ones for the Democrats."

Dr. Andrew Anderson, 36, Macon, Bernie Sanders

"I feel like we needed a change in Washington. Even though he's been in Congress for some time, he has stuck to his guns over the years. I've followed him since the '80s and '90s, and he has always said that manufacturing is drying up because of these free trade agreements, so I cast my vote for Bernie and I'm tired of the other people running."

Connie O'Dowd, 69, of Houston County, John Kasich

"So far, he seems to be the only adult in the group. I've watched some of the debates. They were school-yard brawls. He also has governing experience as a governor. He has a history of working on both sides. By that I mean, bringing sides together -- not being difficult, and I liked him a whole better than anything else."

Sally DeFore, 55, Macon, Marco Rubio

"I think Rubio is the best man for the job."

Keith Howard, Macon, Hillary Clinton

Howard said Clinton has the "experience to get the job done." Howard said income disparity and healthcare are the two issues he's most concerned with.

Jim Nessing, 56, Macon, Donald Trump

"I'm not real happy with the Republican or Democratic (candidates). ... I've been in business here in Macon for more than 20 years. It seems like it's the same ol', same ol', and I'm tired of it. When you get down to it, a lot of people are disillusioned with what's been going on."

Christine Lowell, Macon, Marco Rubio

Because of groups such as ISIS, national security is a big issue for Lowell. She said she favors Rubio because of his national security knowledge.

Alvin Wright, 51, Macon, Hillary Clinton

"I think she would make a good president because her husband, he was president, too. And I don't really feel the other people she's running against they wouldn't make the right and rational decisions that she has made. And she was secretary of state, and President Obama, he trusted her, you know, to handle the job. And she did a very fair and well job. That's why I voted for Hillary and I want her to win."

Alex Skinner, 31, Warner Robins, Bernie Sanders

"I like his education plan. He has the same goals and ambitions as Dr. Martin Luther King had. Hillary is just not the type of person I would want to vote for."

Shawn Lasker, Macon, Marco Rubio

Lasker said Rubio seems to "have his head on the straightest." Lasker also said he was considering voting for Donald Trump at one point, but after attending Trump's rally in Macon a few months ago, he changed his mind.

Jim Nessing, 56, Donald Trump

"I'm not real happy with the Republican or Democratic (candidates). ... I've been in business here in Macon for more than 20 years. It seems like it's the same ol', same ol', and I'm tired of it. When you get down to it, a lot of people are disillusioned with what's been going on."

Camille Hughes, 46, Hillary Clinton

"I voted Democrat, Hillary Clinton because she's a female. I liked Bill Clinton when he was in office. Hillary Clinton being a female and having the same thoughts that I have and the same inspirations that I have, I guess. I just thought that she would be the better candidate out of all of them."

Bill Lloyd, Macon, Ted Cruz

"I'm hoping (Ted) Cruz will win, but (Donald) Trump scares the hell out of me, so who knows what will happen."

Beth Denson, 57, Macon, John Kasich

"He was the lesser of all the bad choices. I wasn't very excited about any of them."

Bob Schumacher, Macon, Bernie Sanders

"I like both Bernie and Hillary (Clinton). Sanders has been on the same message for a long, long time."

Jimmy Lee Stanley Jr., Macon, Hillary Clinton

Stanley said he thinks Clinton has some of the same beliefs of current President Barack Obama and would like to see that carried over into a new administration.
