A Michigan man won a nice prize playing the lottery, then used the money to win an even bigger prize.

The man bought a $300 Fast Cash ticket, according to the Michigan Lottery.

“I usually play scratch off tickets, but I bought a $30 Jumbo Jackpot Slots Fast Cash ticket on a whim and ended up winning $300,” the 39-year-old man told lottery officials.

The man decided to use part of his winnings to buy another ticket.

“When I cashed that ticket, I used $20 of my winnings to buy a Super Lucky 7s ticket,” he said.

That’s when he realized he hit the jackpot.

“I scanned the ticket on the Michigan Lottery app and started shaking when I saw I’d won $714,891. The first thing I did was walk over and give the cashier a hug,” he told lottery officials.

The man said he plans to pay bills, put money in his kids’ college funds and save the rest.
