A man who frequently plays the lottery refuses to switch up his routine, and now it’s paid off in a big way.

“I feel like I got hit by lightning!” the Arkansas Lottery winner said after winning a jackpot prize on July 1. “I’ve never won anything like this in my life.”

He won the $90,000 top prize while playing the Natural State Jackpot game, lottery officials said in a July 22 news release.

He purchased his ticket at a convenience store in Van Buren. Instead of choosing his own numbers, he stuck with his routine of playing “the same set of computer-generated numbers for one week.”

He saw those numbers — 11, 14, 16, 20 and 21 — again when he looked at the results of the drawing two days later.

“Am I looking at this right?” the stunned lottery winner thought, according to lottery officials.

He became the first jackpot winner in the daily game since June 22. There has not been one since him.

Odds of winning the top prize are 1 in 575,757.

The winner said he plans to donate part of his winnings and save the remainder for his grandchildren’s scholarship funds.

Van Buren is about a 150-mile drive northwest from Little Rock.

Many people can gamble or play games of chance without harm. However, for some, gambling is an addiction that can ruin lives and families.

If you or a loved one shows signs of gambling addiction, you can seek help by calling the national gambling hotline at 1-800-522-4700 or visiting the National Council on Problem Gambling website.
