A man was inspired to buy an Arkansas lottery ticket after his brother’s win — and the string of family luck continued.

“I don’t even really play that often,” the winner from Drew County told lottery officials in a June 17 news release. “I was just thinking, ‘It might be my time.’”

He bought a scratch-off at a Walmart in Monticello when the blue ticket, his favorite color, caught his eye.

He was still in the store when he scratched off the $20 ticket, and was stunned when he saw the prize, lottery officials said. He won $350,000, the top prize in the $350,000 Cash Payout game.

“No way!” the winner thought, according to the release.

He called his dad after his win, and the good news inspired his dad to buy a lottery ticket of his own, the man told officials.

“I wish him luck,” the winner told officials about his father’s lottery endeavor.

Now, the lucky player, who loves animals, is making plans to buy animals and land with the lottery prize.

Monticello is about a 90-mile drive southeast from Little Rock.

Many people can gamble or play games of chance without harm. However, for some, gambling is an addiction that can ruin lives and families.

If you or a loved one shows signs of gambling addiction, you can seek help by calling the national gambling hotline at 1-800-522-4700 or visiting the National Council on Problem Gambling website.
