Lottery winner in ‘disbelief’ calls friend to check prize. ‘Couldn’t process it’
An Ohio woman was in disbelief when she won a huge lottery prize on a scratch-off ticket.
The woman bought a $5 Monopoly Bonus Spectacular 25X ticket in Akron, according to a June 12 news release from the Ohio Lottery.
When she scratched the ticket, she couldn’t believe what she saw.
“I sat there in disbelief,” the woman told lottery officials.
She won the game’s top prize of $150,000. She then called her friend to look over the ticket and make sure what she saw was correct, the lottery said.
“I couldn’t process it until I got to the Canton office to make a claim,” she said.
After taxes, she’ll take home $108,000, according to lottery officials.
She said she’s going to use the money to buy a home.
Akron is about a 40-mile drive south from Cleveland.
