A lucky lottery player turned $10 into a $1 million prize after filling up at an Upstate gas station, according to the South Carolina Education Lottery.

The woman netted the windfall on a Royal Millions scratcher game and used her winnings to buy a home, officials said in a Jan. 31 news release.

“It’s amazing,” she told lottery officials. “This has change [sic] my life and made it better.”

She bought the lucky ticket at a Spinx gas station in Inman, beating odds of 1 in 1,560,000 to win the $1 million grand prize, the lottery said.

After filling up, the woman said she drove home and scratched the ticket in her driveway. That’s when she laid eyes on the life-changing prize.

“When you see ‘$1 MIL,’ printed on your ticket it stops you,” she told lottery officials.

The Spinx gas station received a $10,000 commission for selling the winning ticket.

Inman is about a 70-mile drive west from Rock Hill.
