A lucky gambler won a slot machine jackpot prize so big it set a record at a Colorado casino.

Now, the player is $1,085,435.89 richer.

The visitor sat at a Dragon Link slot machine at the Monarch Casino Resort Spa in Black Hawk, the casino said in a Jan. 30 news release.

The player bet $50, hit spin and watched as the symbols flashed across the screen until a jackpot message appeared.

It’s the first time a player has won a prize this huge at the casino since it opened 12 years ago, the casino said.

“Jackpots like these are extremely rare, and to see one happen, our gaming floor was quite the spectacle,” the casino’s director of marketing, Erica Ferris, said in the release.

Black Hawk is about a 40-mile drive northwest from Denver.

Many people can gamble or play games of chance without harm. However, for some, gambling is an addiction that can ruin lives and families.

If you or a loved one shows signs of gambling addiction, you can seek help by calling the national gambling hotline at 1-800-522-4700 or visiting the National Council on Problem Gambling website.
